DATABASE EDITIONS IN ORACLE :

  • ENTERPRISE EDITION (EE) :

Most powerful with a vast array of tools and features of the largest corporation.

  • STANDARD EDITION (SE) :

Oracle SE contains the basic database management functions for small and medium sized shops at a far lower cost than ENTERPRISE EDITION.

  • STANDARD EDITION ONE(SEO) :

Oracle SEO is specially priced for single cpu servers used by small business.

  • EXPRESS EDITION (EE) :

Entry level small footprint database to develop ,deploy and distribute.

 

DATABASE EDITIONS IN MySQL :

  • MySQL COMMUNITY SERVER :  

This is freely downloadable version from world’s most popular open source database that is supported by an active community of open source developers and enthusiasts.

  • MySQL ENTERPRISE EDITION :  

Commercial customers have flexibility of choosing  from multiple  MySQL editions to meet the specific business and technical requirement.

NOTE : 

Difference between Community edition and Enterprise edition is added support and tools .The server is same but Enterprise edition gets updated more frequently and it is stable with quick bug fix

 

 

PRICE FACTOR COMPARISON :

MySQL : 

MySQL is open source and MySQL is available for free download and installation.

 

ORACLE : 

In Oracle only EXPRESS EDITION is free of cost . But it has only limited features when compare to MySQL .

For extensive features  either Oracle Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition has to be purchased .
